Dublin-based duo T R Y S T E have quietly, but powerfully, carved out their own lane in the Irish music scene. Made up of Gabriel Gaba and John O’Kelly, the pair have been building a sound that’s entirely their own: emotional, immersive, and unapologetically heavy.

After the end of his previous project, Gaba (vocals/guitar) set out to explore new sonic ground, chasing the balance between raw emotion and crushing intensity. A chance online reconnection with O’Kelly (production/guitar) soon led to a collaboration that clicked instantly. John brought his love of classic shoegaze and 80s goth into the mix, and together, the two forged what they call emotionally heavy, heavy music.

2025 has been a breakthrough year for T R Y S T E. Their single Pipe Dream turned heads, followed quickly by The Long Journey. Now, they’re back with their third release, Vessel, a haunting black-gaze track that blends post-rock beauty with the crushing weight of post-metal.

Vessel opens with a calm, almost fragile energy, shimmering synths and acoustic guitar layered beneath Gaba’s delicate vocals. But midway through, it erupts. A pulse of kick drums drives the song into a feverish crescendo, unleashing a storm of drums, screams, and distorted guitars. It’s intense, cathartic, and deeply human.

Lyrically, the track dives into a moment of reckoning, that point where you decide whether to abandon ship or brace yourself for the storm ahead. As Gabriel explains, It’s about having integrity even in the worst possible situations.

Interestingly, T R Y S T E’s writing process mirrors that sense of emotional push and pull. The two prefer to write separately at first, carefully crafting ideas before bringing them together to collaborate and refine. It’s a process that allows each idea to breathe, and the end result feels far greater than the sum of its parts.

Vessel marks the final single before their upcoming EP, To Rise You Seek The End, which drops November 13th. If this track is anything to go by, the release promises to be an emotional and sonic powerhouse, the sound of a duo truly coming into their own.
