Dave Lofts
It’s been a wild year for Irish singer-songwriter Dave Lofts, and it’s no wonder people are calling him one of Ireland’s most exciting new voices. Over the past 12 months, Lofts has sold out headline shows across the country, hit the road with Wolf Alice, and even performed in front of more than 50,000 people while supporting The Wolfe Tones.
Now, Lofts is opening a new chapter, one that dives deep into some of the darkest corners of his past. His latest single, Drunk, might just be his most personal song yet. It’s a raw, soulful confession that doesn’t shy away from the hard stuff: addiction, self-destruction, and the long road to healing. True to his style, Lofts turns pain into poetry, crafting something both deeply honest and strangely uplifting.
Drunk' is about a time in my life when alcoholism was at its full effect — loving somebody so much but having bad habits too. The partner putting up with the man's bad habit is only affecting her, hence the line 'what's gonna kill me is gonna kill you.' It's a nod to the reality of alcohol abuse, to wanting help, and to accepting the problem.
For an artist who’s already lived a few different lives, from serving in the Irish Army to scoring a No. 1 Independent Album, it’s clear that Lofts isn’t afraid to bare it all. His emotionally charged performances have also struck a chord online, racking up millions of views on TikTok and earning him a devoted fanbase that connects with his unfiltered storytelling.
With Drunk
, Dave Lofts isn’t just releasing another song, he’s sharing a piece of his truth. And if this is any sign of what’s to come, his next chapter might be his most powerful yet.
The single, Drunk, is available through all streaming platforms.
