 Spin Class
                Spin Class
                Rockers, Spin Class have finally dropped their long-awaited EP, and it totally channels the wild, raw energy of their live shows. Recorded live from start to finish with producer Josh Gallop (you might know him from work with Krooked Tongue, Phoxjaw, and Sergeant Thunderhoof) at Stage 2 Studios in Bath, the five-track release is a no-holds-barred dive into the band’s psyche, touching on everything from mental health struggles to intrusive thoughts and addiction. It's intense, honest, and feels like you’re right there in the room with them.
Following up their April 2025 single Bagel Bagel Bagel
, Spin Class return with their second EP, Dereks Dinner, and it’s a wild ride from start to finish. That earlier single hinted at what was coming, with its Sabbath-style riffs and thick, sludgy basslines, and the bluesy Calamari Canteen
 picks up right where it left off. Things take an interesting turn with Mr Toy’s Flying Wok Noodle Bar
, which opens with bright, jangly guitars before crashing into a wall of distortion that hits hard. The EP wraps up with Cake
, a surprise twist that leans into a more alt-pop-rock vibe, showing off a whole other side to the band’s sound.
Dinner at Derek's is a 12 minute, 5 course meal that will leave you satiated; Your tastebuds tingling from our next batch of juicy tunes! This EP feels like a new era of Spin Class. We've spent a year crafting our tone, writing together all in the same city this time, and playing live. Dinner at Derek's promises a menu of shorter, yet fuller tunes, chock full of chops and changes, riffs to make your belly rumble and melodies you'll find yourself singing along to, without even realising.
We've approached this body of music with feeling rather than thinking, which comes across, especially in the performance as the whole EP was recorded live. This has been a massive fete for us but one we loved and will most likely be our process moving forward. We are very proud of this EP and can't wait for you to get your fill with Dinner At Derek's!- Louis Slater (Vocals)
On their decision to record live the band explain;
Bands like Soundgarden and Led Zeppelin and how they recorded tracks were a heavy influence for us in the creation of this EP. This live approach has been something we’ve never done before but felt very natural. We’re a live band first at the end of the day, and capturing that raw energy in the production was essential. The result bounces between overstimulated punk intensity with each violent transition amplifying the live feel we’ve wanted to capture at gigs and rehearsals.
The EP, Dinner At Dereks, is available through all streaming platforms.
