Alternative Rockers, Mondays Child release blistering debut EP

With a number of successful releases under their belt, Belfast rockers, Mondays Child, have been developing their brand of alternative rock as they blend of heavy tones with moody ethereal pieces.

Formed by McKay sisters Jen (lead vocals/guitar), Lauren (vocals/guitar), Clara (bass), and friend Caitlin Lenfestey (drums), Mondays Child have captured their true sound as they release their stunning debut EP, Modern Affair, filled with chugging distorted chords and raw vocals.

Growing up with influences predominantly from the pre-social media age you tend to idealise this world where the music mattered more than views or streams, and connections made with people were organic. Trying to foster these connections and confrontations with the modern world through our writing and performing has helped us break through the fourth wall in a way. We all put a lot of pressure on ourselves but writing and recording this EP among the madness of our daily lives gave us a new perspective on our roles in the world and where we want to concentrate our energies. - Jen McKay (Vocals)

The EP bursts to life with the 90's tinged Problem Girl, followed by the tempo-changing Love, You'll Figure It Out, which moves from soft acoustic to heavy distorted chords. In My Own Time combines heavy bass-lines and chugging chords while the title track, Modern Fair, brings this stunning EP to a climatic end.

The EP reflects our experience since forming the band and battling the pressures of modern life. We're always striving to improve and while keeping up with the pace of the world can feel exhausting, we're proud of the progress we've made as a band and are always trying to keep in mind that life is not a race - we can do things our own way and get by just fine. Trying not to compare and keeping the focus on what's important to us, these songs are an ode to getting through the hard days, while trying not to take it all too seriously. - Lauren McKay (Guitar)
