Methodator | A Raw Look at Restlessness and Self-Doubt

Music Review | 29th Aug, 2025 Methadactor Methadactor

The brainchild of Edward O’Mahony, Methodator pulls threads from R&B, pop, hip-hop, and DIY bedroom production to weave together something that feels both deeply personal and refreshingly unpredictable.

After teasing us with a string of genre-bending singles, O’Mahony is gearing up to drop his debut EP later this year. But before the full project lands, he’s treating us to one last taste with his newest single, Wasted Hours.

The track is an electronic-laced alternative rock anthem, built on a brooding, hypnotic synth bass that perfectly captures the restless hum of sleepless nights. The lyrics dive into self-doubt, wasted time, and spiraling thoughts, all while searching for something real to hold onto.

Wasted Hours unfolds in two gripping halves. The first leans into the melancholy, layering atmospheric synths and drum’n’bass-tinged percussion that keep you suspended in its mood. But then, halfway through, it erupts into a cathartic rock ballad, with shimmering arpeggiated guitars and a wave of explosive live drums courtesy of Conor Wallace (of Scustin’).

The debut EP A Fool's Errand comes out September 12th. The release will be accompanied by a Dublin listening party on September 10th along with a full band show in Dun Laoghaire, Dublin on October 24th.
