Singer-songwriter, Martin McGuigan releases infectious new single

Music Review | 13th April, 2025 Martin McGuigan Martin McGuigan

Hailing from Co.Down, singer-songwriter Martin McGuigan, exists in a 1960,s themed House of Mirrors, in which Lennon, McCartney, Dylan, Hendrix and Bowie have been my landlords.

McGuigan has traveled all over Europe with his music performing at multiple festivals and solo shows. With the release of his previous singles, Eighteen Eight Who?, Fidel Castrato's Sophomore Travelogue and Playboy Of The Western World, McGuigan received high praise which earned the singer-songwriter radio airplay.

Containing all the hallmarks of a great indie track, Confessions Of An Idle Mind, is the latest single from an artist who effortlessly blends infectious melodies, harmonies and jangle toned guitars.

Confessions Of An Idle Mind, embodies the impermanence and ethereal nature of youthful invulnerability. It's ostensibly a trippy party type scenario where you meet all these glorious, fantastical people that you only ever meet when you're 19 and 20.
The age of wonderment and awe, where your friends are everything and we think they'll last forever and that we'll always be 19!
It's partially cynical/partly wistful as now the narrator doesn't have these types of experiences anymore and he literally feels like his doors are closing, he's actually even getting a little nostalgic for that annoying, Jay from The Inbetweeners, type friend.
