Liverpool-born, Irish-based singer-songwriter Jake Carter is back, and this time, he’s trading his trademark upbeat energy for something far more vulnerable. His brand-new single Tightrope dives deep into the complexities of love, distance, and the delicate balance that comes with trying to hold it all together when things start to slip.

Co-written and produced by his long-time collaborator Richey McCourt, Tightrope feels like one of Jake’s most personal tracks to date. It blends heartfelt storytelling with lush, cinematic pop production, a sound that perfectly mirrors the emotional tension of the song’s theme.

The track opens gently, with Jake’s vocals exposed over soft piano chords, before swelling into something bigger and more cinematic. Layers of synths and strings build around his voice, pulling listeners right into the emotional core of the song.

Using the vivid image of walking a tightrope, the lyrics capture that bittersweet moment when love feels like it’s slipping away. Jake’s raw, emotional delivery conveys both the ache of being unseen and the longing to reconnect, feelings anyone who’s been in a faltering relationship will instantly relate to.

Tightrope’ is one of my favourite songs I’ve worked on in recent years. It shows a more vulnerable side of me — a real change from the fun, cheeky, upbeat image people often associate with my music. - Jake Carter

The single also continues Jake’s ongoing collaboration with Richey McCourt, a partnership that’s clearly evolving with every release. Together, they’ve crafted something that feels intimate yet cinematic, a bold step forward for Jake as both a songwriter and an artist.

Tightrope isn’t just another single; it’s a glimpse into Jake Carter’s emotional depth, and proof that sometimes, stepping off the safe path can lead to your most powerful work yet.
