Folk artist, Fin Furey, releases thought provoking single

Music Review | 6th April, 2025 Fin Furey Fin Furey

Folk music has long been the voice of the people, a raw and honest narration of the world as it shifts and reshapes itself. Continuing this legacy, is Irish folk singer, Fin Furey, whos latest single, Dogs Of War holds a mirror to society's cyclical nature, where history's lessons remain unlearned, and old creeds linger despite calls for change.

Following in the footsteps of his fellow folk artists, Fin Furey, crafts music that is a raw and honest narration of the world, walking a fine line between entertainment and political rebellion.

The song's chorus, Right wing, left wing, one bird last flight, the same games, new faces roll the dice, old creeds soon die, a changing tide — strikes at the illusion of political progress, revealing how the players change, but the game remains the same. The opening verse questions the nature of ownership, borders, and belief:

What does it mean to draw a line in sand,
To say it's yours, build walls then claim the land?
What does it mean to rise and fall
Neath the shadow of your God's hand?

Dogs Of War, challenges the hypocrisy of calling for change while clinging to separatist traditions that have fuelled division and suffering throughout history. Without a real shift, the past will continue to shape the future:

What does it mean to learn from old mistakes, when the creeds that lead us there still remain, what does it mean to swear by change and with the same breath evoke old ways?

In a world plagued by constant war and turmoil, Dogs of War reveals a harsh truth: these cycles of violence will endure unless we challenge the forces that sustain them.
