Burnchurch | Blending Trad Roots with Modern Vibes and Big Plans for the Summer

Music Review | 14th July, 2025 Burnchurch Burnchurch

Burnchurch are a lively family band from Kilkenny, Ireland. While their roots are in traditional Irish music, they love blending in other styles like blues and pop/rock. They're all multi-instrumentalists with a knack for powerful vocals and rich sibling harmonies. As native Irish speakers, they enjoy mixing things up with songs in both English and Irish.

Over the past year, they’ve hit some big stages like Electric Picnic, Marlay Park, Collins Barracks, and even the All-Star Awards at Croke Park – plus loads more. Off stage, they’ve been busy in the studio too. Their first EP, Maidin, was a big hit and gave fans a sneak peek of what’s coming next with their debut album dropping this summer.

Their latest track, Don’t You Look Back, is a bold anthem celebrating unsung Irish heroes, especially Countess Markievicz, who gave up a life of privilege to fight for Irish freedom and help those in need. The track has a big, uplifting sound, with punchy drums, vibrant instrumentation, and those tight sibling harmonies that give it a unique edge.
