Is There Anybody Out There?ahead of new album
If there’s one thing Young Martyrs don’t do, it’s hang about. Since forming in 2020, the four-piece have been moving at full throttle - two albums deep already, a sold-out tour under their belt, and festival slots that most bands would spend years chasing. From Glastonbury to Rock Oyster, they’ve carved out a solid spot right at the heart of the alt-rock scene, and they’re not letting go anytime soon.
Now, they’re gearing up for album number three, Might Just Be Enough
, set to land in Summer 2026. But before that, they’ve dropped a little preview of what’s to come with new single Is There Anybody Out There? - and it’s a proper statement.
The track leans into the band’s sweet spot: emotionally heavy, lyrically rich songwriting wrapped in a stripped-back, Americana-tinged ballad. There’s a rawness to the vocal that hits straight away, while understated guitar lines drift in beneath the chorus, building a layered sound that never overreaches. It’s subtle, it’s controlled, and it absolutely lands.
Frontman Tom Corneill sums it up best, describing the track as something that feels particularly timely - digging into themes of connection, loss, and that unsettling sense of time slipping through your fingers. It’s about missing people, missing moments, and realising a little too late just how much they mattered.
And because Young Martyrs aren’t the type to do things halfway, the single arrives with their most ambitious video yet. Shot by Quite Brilliant at Twickenham Film Studios and directed by BAFTA-winner Tim James Brown, the visual takes the song’s adrift
theme and quite literally launches it into space. The result? A cinematic, four-minute piece that feels every bit as expansive as the track itself.
Behind the scenes, the band took a slightly different approach this time around. Is There Anybody Out There?
was recorded as a three-piece, with guitarist Rich Beeby pulling double duty on bass before the recent addition of Phil Smith completed the lineup. The track was laid down across Real World Studios and Indefra Studios, with co-production from Sebastian Brice and mastering handled at Abbey Road - so yeah, they’ve got the details covered too.
All signs point to Might Just Be Enough
being a big moment for Young Martyrs. If this first taste is anything to go by, they’re not just keeping pace, they’re levelling up.
The single, Is There Anybody Out There?, is available through all streaming platforms.
