WYNONA BLEACH

Belfast’s alt-rock scene has been bubbling for a while now, but few bands have captured its energy quite like Wynona Bleach. Blending fuzzy shoegaze textures with irresistibly sweet pop melodies, the trio have carved out a sound that sits somewhere between dreamy distortion and punchy indie hooks. In the ever-growing world of alternative rock and what fans have lovingly dubbed gaze-pop, Wynona Bleach are quickly becoming one of the most exciting names to watch.

Since forming in 2018, the band have wasted no time building serious road-tested credentials. They’ve already racked up impressive touring experience, sharing stages with heavyweights like Alice In Chains and Ash, sharpening their live sound along the way. Add to that a steady stream of releases-including their debut album Moonsoake-and it’s clear this is a band that thrives on momentum.

Now they’re gearing up for the next chapter.

Their second album, Animal Style, lands this May, but before the full record drops, Wynona Bleach have offered fans a first taste with the blistering new single Religion.

Religion erupts out of the speakers with a punk-charged burst of energy, channeling the grit and attitude of ‘90s indie rock while wrapping it in the glossy immediacy of modern power-pop. The track races forward on a pounding rhythm section, packed with crunchy guitars and razor-sharp riffs that feel tailor-made for sweaty club stages. Yet beneath the wall of fuzz lies a surprisingly melodic core-bright, hooky vocals that transform the chaos into something that feels like a pop anthem hiding inside a garage-rock storm.

Speaking about the track, the band explain:

It's less a love song, and more a ‘lust’ song. It's about when you meet someone that makes you feel like you'd do anything, even if it was to lie to your true self. It also calls out fake people, fake society, organised religion and how everything made out to be ‘cool’ is usually just a con.

If Religion is anything to go by, Animal Style promises to be a thrilling step forward-louder, sharper, and bursting with attitude.

Circle the date: May 29th, 2026. If Wynona Bleach keep this energy up across the full record, Animal Style could be one of the most explosive alt-rock releases of the year.
