Indie-rockers Ultras are a five-piece with zero interest in playing it cool — and that’s exactly the point. Taking their name from the fiercely loyal football ultras
found in stadiums across Europe, the band channel that same devotion and chaos into their live shows. Think football jerseys, dark shades, chant-alongs, and a wall of sound that feels more like match day than a midweek gig.
Formed through Beardfire Studios’ MyBand project, Ultras have quickly locked in a visual and sonic identity that sets them apart. Every show feels communal — sweaty, loud, and cathartic — the kind of shared release where the crowd isn’t just watching, they’re part of it.
2025 was a breakout year for the Dublin band. Following a run of well-received singles and the momentum of previous releases such as The Dream, the lads are back with a fresh dose of indie rock with bite on their latest track, Some Flowers.

doesn’t waste time easing you in. It’s a full-tilt rocker that stitches together ’90s Britpop swagger with a heavier US-leaning edge — nods to grunge and alt-rock tucked inside crashing guitars, thick funky basslines, and a riff that ducks and weaves just enough to keep things interesting. There’s even room for a short drum solo, because why not?

Ultras are also gearing up for their first-ever festival appearance, hitting Smock Alley Theatre on February 26th as part of the Scene and Heard Festival — a fitting stage for a band whose live shows already feel built for big moments.
