MannersReview: Controlled Chaos from Dublin's Rising Post-Punk Outfit
Since emerging in 2023 with their debut single Enola
, San Rocco have steadily built a reputation as one of the most compelling acts to emerge from Dublin's underground music scene. Blending the structured guitar-driven energy of '90s alternative rock with elements of new wave and dark post-punk, the band have never shied away from intensity or atmosphere.
A string of impressive releases, including their debut EP People Verses
, helped establish San Rocco as a band worth paying attention to. Their growing fanbase was further cemented through a series of live performances, culminating in a sold-out headline show at The Sound House - the biggest gig of their career so far.
Following a period on the road, the band returned to the studio in 2025 to begin work on new material. The result is Manners, the first glimpse into San Rocco's next creative chapter.
MannersDelivers Heavy Basslines, Sharp Satire and Post-Punk Energy
From the opening moments, Manners
announces itself with a thick, driving bassline that anchors the track's relentless momentum. It's a chaotic, high-voltage burst of post-punk energy that balances aggression with precision.
The vocal performance is particularly striking. Imagine the theatrical cool of Iggy Pop colliding with the mechanical edge of Gary Numan, delivered over swirling synth textures and distorted guitars. The result feels both familiar and refreshingly unpredictable.
Lyrically, Manners
takes aim at the absurdities of etiquette, social expectations, and so-called good behaviour.
What begins as a critique quickly evolves into something more cathartic - a confrontation with conformity that unravels into a satisfying release of tension. The band's sharp sense of satire is matched by a soundscape that feels constantly on the verge of collapse without ever losing control.
Recorded at Black Mountain Studios in County Louth with producer Peter Baldwin, the track later underwent mixing with Richie Kennedy (Cliffords, Cardinals, Scustin). Kennedy's contribution helps sharpen the song's impact, preserving its raw energy while adding clarity and depth to the overall production.
Manners
If People Verses
introduced San Rocco's potential, Manners
feels like the moment they fully embrace it. The single signals a bolder, more unhinged evolution in the band's sound - one that leans into disorder while maintaining a razor-sharp sense of purpose.
As the first release from the band's upcoming 2026 recording sessions, Manners
serves as a statement of intent. It's loud, confrontational, darkly humorous, and impossible to ignore.
For a band already gaining momentum within Ireland's indie and post-punk circles, Manners
suggests that San Rocco are only getting started.
The single, Manners, is available through all streaming platforms.
