The Kildare indie rock band showcase a softer side without losing their signature sound

Known for their explosive live performances, Kildare indie rock outfit Mantle have quickly become one of the most exciting names to emerge from Dublin's underground music scene. Since releasing their debut single, Fall Apart, the band have continued to build momentum, earning national attention and praise for their distinctive blend of soaring guitar melodies, dynamic vocals and modern indie-rock songwriting.

There has been little downtime for the four-piece. Following the success of Fall Apart, Mantle returned with Nova, a track that perfectly captured the band's ability to balance raw energy with polished musicianship. While working towards their highly anticipated debut project, due for release in 2026, they've now unveiled their latest single, Ivy, Iveagh.

With Ivy, Iveagh, Mantle take an unexpected step back from the driving indie-rock sound that first put them on the map. Instead, the song leans into delicate acoustic guitar, shimmering electric textures and a subtle yet steady rhythm section that gives the track room to breathe.

As the song unfolds, it gradually builds in intensity without ever becoming overwhelming. A beautifully understated guitar solo arrives towards the closing moments, adding warmth and emotion, while layers of rich vocal harmonies elevate the arrangement even further. It's a masterclass in restraint, proving that sometimes less really is more.

Lyrically, Ivy, Iveagh is the band's most vulnerable release to date. Framed as a letter to a love that could never be, the song explores longing and heartbreak with sincerity, allowing the stripped-back instrumentation to place every word front and centre.

Drawing influence from artists like Radiohead, Pearl Jam, Jeff Buckley and the contemporary indie grit of Wunderhorse, Mantle continue to carve out a sound that feels both familiar and uniquely their own. Rather than wearing those influences on their sleeve, they've blended them into something authentic, creating music that feels timeless without losing its modern edge.

If Ivy, Iveagh is any indication of what's to come, Mantle's debut project in 2026 is shaping up to be something worth keeping an eye on. The band's willingness to explore a more intimate side of their songwriting shows real maturity, while still retaining the melodic identity that has made them one of Ireland's most promising emerging indie acts.
