Denial
Since dropping his debut single Already Been Told
back in March 2024, Irish singer-songwriter Johnluke has been quietly but confidently building momentum. The folk-pop ballad introduced listeners to his warm storytelling style and instantly marked him as one of Ireland’s most promising new voices. Since then, he’s kept the releases coming, each one sharpening his sound and growing his audience. Now, the rising artist is back with his latest single, Denial.
Leaning into western folk influences while holding onto his polished pop sensibilities, Denial
lands as an acoustic-driven anthem that feels both timeless and fresh. Acoustic guitars carry the track from the very first beat, layered over percussion that shifts between rustic folk textures and slick modern production. The result? An upbeat, foot-tapping track that builds toward a seriously infectious sing-along chorus.
But beneath the bright energy sits a more reflective story. Lyrically, Denial
dives into the mindset of someone who’s slowly being worn down by life’s pressures but refuses to admit they’re struggling. It captures that quiet internal tug-of-war between pride and vulnerability, the need to appear strong even when the cracks are starting to show. The character convinces himself he can handle everything alone, even as the emotional weight keeps piling on.
Speaking about the track, Johnluke explains:
I wrote ‘Denial’ about that constant feeling of trying to stay strong when you're slowly and quietly drowning in your own thoughts.
It’s this mix of honest storytelling and memorable melodies that’s quickly becoming Johnluke’s trademark. His soulful approach to songwriting has already begun resonating with listeners across generations, and it’s only fueling anticipation for what’s next, including his much-awaited debut EP.
Behind the scenes, he’s also been linking up with some serious industry talent. In the studio, Johnluke has worked alongside respected writers and producers like Richie McCourt (Ryan Mack, Aimee, Roisin O’, Jazzy), Anna Krantz (Ed Sheeran, Lyra, Cliff Richard) and John Nathaniel (OneRepublic, Shawn Mendes, Alex Sampson). With more major releases already lined up for 2026, it looks like this is just the beginning of Johnluke’s climb.
The single, Denial, is available through all streaming platforms.
