A Bold New Direction for Filthy Algorithm
When Filthy Algorithm released their debut album Masque Of Anarchy in 2025, it would have been easy to assume the project was firmly rooted in snarling punk rock, gritty blues, and spoken-word storytelling. But that impression only scratches the surface.
The studio-based musical project, led by musician, producer, and vocalist Paul Byrne, has always hinted at something far broader. Byrne's strength lies in assembling a cast of musicians who each bring their own personality and flavour to the music, allowing Filthy Algorithm to move freely between styles without losing their identity.

There's a definite Madchester
influence running through the track. Think baggy trousers, hazy club nights, and infectious rhythms designed to keep bodies moving. The song swaps the rough-edged aggression of earlier material for a smoother, more textured sound built around layered electronic production.
A major highlight is the addition of vocalist Shivonne, whose melodic performance provides the perfect counterbalance to Paul Byrne's distinctive spoken-word delivery. Together, they create a dynamic contrast that gives the song both energy and emotional depth.
Adding even more colour are the psychedelic guitar lines woven throughout the arrangement. Rather than relying on heavy distortion, the guitars float through the mix with clean tones and rich textures, blending seamlessly with the song's shimmering synth patterns.
