Walk of Shameahead of debut EP
Emerging artist Cathal Fitz has been quietly building a name for himself with a sound that sits somewhere between intimate acoustic storytelling and modern pop polish. Over the course of 2025 he dropped a run of singles that started turning heads across Ireland, earning him spots on stages alongside some of the country’s biggest acts. Now the Cork singer-songwriter is gearing up for the release of his debut EP - a project that’s already shaping up to cement him as one of the most exciting new voices coming out of the Irish scene.
But before that EP lands, Fitz is giving us another taste of what’s to come with the announcement of his bold new single Walk of Shame.
The track is a bittersweet pop-folk earworm that blends raw, confessional songwriting with atmospheric production. It’s the kind of tune that sneaks up on you - a foot-tapping rhythm carrying lyrics that hit a lot deeper than you might expect on first listen. Acoustic picking leads the way, joined by subtle slide guitar and piano, all sitting comfortably on top of a steady beat. There’s a gentle country warmth in the mix, but it never loses that clean pop sheen, especially when the hook lands with the repeating line: Walk of shame
.
Lyrically, the song digs into the cycle of addiction and the emotional fog that comes with it. Fitz paints a stark picture of life when drinking and escapism start calling the shots - the chaos, the uncertainty, and the constant tug-of-war between guilt and self-awareness. It’s a deeply personal reflection, capturing the strange paradox of addiction: knowing the damage it’s causing while feeling powerless to break the pattern.
Speaking about the track, Fitz explains:
It's speculated that people caught in addiction choose to stay on that path. But from my experience, they're often painfully self-aware, remorseful, and stuck. This song is for those people - to remind them they're not alone. Specialists say the opposite of addiction is connection, and I hope this track connects with anyone who needs to know their pain isn't just theirs.
Walk of Shame
was produced by Kealan Kenny and Cian Synott, both known for their work with rising Irish acts including Amble, while the track was mastered by Lismore Mastering.
If this single is anything to go by, Cathal Fitz’s upcoming EP could be something special, the kind of release that turns quiet momentum into a full-blown breakthrough. Keep an eye on this one.
The single, Walk Of Shame, is available through all streaming platforms.
