There’s something about the chaos of 2020 that quietly rewired a whole generation of artists - and for Brook Fox, it lit the spark. What started as a lockdown obsession with songwriting has quickly turned into a full-blown sonic identity: a punchy, heart-on-sleeve blend of pop hooks, indie grit, and a hint of country storytelling.

You can hear the DNA straight away. Fox pulls heavily from the 2010s indie boom-think fuzzy, gritty guitars, driving drums, and that restless, late-night energy that refuses to sit still. It’s the kind of sound that feels just as at home in a sweaty pub as it does blasting through your headphones on a midnight walk.

And yeah, the pub scene is exactly where this all began. Like so many before him, Fox cut his teeth playing local venues, building a name the old-school way: loud sets, real crowds, and word of mouth. That reputation for high-energy live shows has followed him ever since, and it’s clearly bleeding into everything he records too.

After honing his craft on stage, Fox dropped his debut single Time in 2024, marking the start of a steady stream of releases. Fast forward to now, and he’s gearing up for his debut EP with a run of singles, including last month’s high-octane Together. But he’s not slowing down - he’s already back with another taste of what’s coming next: Rome.

If Together kicked the door open, Rome storms straight through it.

The track leans harder into indie-rock and alternative territory, pushing Fox’s sound into grittier, more explosive territory. It starts deceptively restrained - raw, unfiltered vocals sitting over chugging guitar lines - before flipping the switch. Drums crash in, guitars distort, and suddenly you’re in full-throttle rock mode. It’s dynamic, it’s messy in the best way, and it feels alive.

Speaking about the track, Fox explains:

This song is a love letter to the songs that inspired me in the first place, writing this felt like rediscovering my obsession with music. Lyrically it's just based around a night out in my hometown and just wanting to escape the judgement of being different, I think it'll speak to a lot of people.

That sense of escape - of wanting more, of pushing back against small-town expectations - runs right through the track. It’s personal, but it’s also instantly relatable.

Behind the scenes, Rome sees Fox once again team up with producer and mixer Tim Hamill, whose experience helps sharpen the track without sanding off its edges. And for the first time, we’re hearing Fox’s live band properly captured in the studio - a big moment, considering the buzz they’ve already built on stage.

Those live credentials aren’t just talk, either. The band has already shared stages with rising names like Liverpool’s Keyside and Glastonbury performer Mali-Haf, and that same kinetic energy pulses through Rome. You can practically picture the crowd jumping when that chorus hits.

All signs point to this being a standout moment - not just on record, but in the live set too.

With the debut EP Everybody’s In Love landing on Friday, 22nd May 2026, Brook Fox is shaping up to be one of those artists who bridges the gap between raw indie spirit and polished pop instinct. If Rome is anything to go by, he’s not just finding his sound - he’s locking it in.
