Dublin’s alternative scene has always had a pulse of its own - but every now and then, something cuts through the noise with quiet confidence. Enter Alpine Skies. Not flashy, not chasing trends, just two seasoned musicians doing what they do best, and doing it with intent.

The duo - Kevin Homan on vocals and guitar, alongside Darren Farrell on guitar - bring decades of experience to the table. Alpine Skies isn’t some overnight project; it’s more like a carefully crafted time capsule of everything they’ve built creatively over the years. Their sound sits somewhere between indie rock, post-Britpop, and electronic rock, wrapped in a cinematic, atmospheric sheen that feels both expansive and intimate.

They’ve been keeping busy lately, putting the finishing touches on their debut album Inspired Conflicts, which lands this April. But before that drops, they’ve given us a taste of what’s to come with their latest single, A Long Way, and it’s a strong statement.

A Long Way hits that sweet spot: mid-tempo, driving, and quietly anthemic. It kicks off with a layered guitar riff that shimmers without trying too hard, setting the tone for what unfolds. Homan’s vocals carry a mix of grit and vulnerability, there’s power there, but it’s never overblown. Instead, it feels lived-in, honest. The guitars weave in and out, gradually building, before opening up into a warm, expressive solo. Underneath it all, a steady rock backbone keeps everything grounded.

A Long Way, is the halfway point of the band's debut album, and lyrically it focuses on one's ability to take hits and keep moving. It admires any person dealing with their own personal crisis - the type that exists internally to them, and that they do not expose or display, yet they fight through day to day.

The band explains;

What really underpins the message is the return of self. The regaining of confidence and self worth from within.

A Long Way was self-produced and recorded with the expertise of Sean Hurley in Little Bear Studios, Dublin, with mastering engineer Gabe Wolf at his home studio in LA, upcoming debut album 'Inspired Conflicts', releasing April 16th, features contributions from Lee Tomkins (Aslan), Sheena Stynes, Gavin Fox (Turn/Idlewild) and Paul 'Binzer' Brennan (The Frames/The Waterboys/Bellx1) on bass and drum recording duties.

Alpine Skies will formally launch album Inspired Conflicts with an unmissable show upstairs in Whelan's, Dublin, on April 30th, with special guests to be announced. Tickets are on sale now, available from whelanslive.com.
