Weezer Announce Dublin 3Arena Show For 2027
Weezer are coming to Ireland
The American alternative rock giants Weezer have announced a new run of international dates as part of their upcoming Weezer: The Gathering tour, with a Dublin show confirmed for 3Arena on 12th May 2027.
The band will be joined by Taking Back Sunday as special guests, making this one of those gigs that should have plenty of appeal for fans of alternative and emo rock.
The tour comes in support of Weezer's new self-titled album, Weezer
, which is due for release on 21st August 2026 through Reprise/Warner Records. Rolling Stone has already described the forthcoming record as one of the best Weezer albums of this century
, setting expectations pretty high for what comes next.
Formed in Los Angeles in 1992, Weezer have spent more than three decades carving out their own place in alternative rock. Led by frontman and songwriter Rivers Cuomo, the band first exploded onto the scene with their classic 1994 debut, better known as the Blue Album.
That record gave us some of Weezer's most recognisable songs, including Buddy Holly
and Say It Ain't So
, and helped establish the band's trademark combination of huge guitar riffs, infectious melodies and quirky, often self-deprecating lyrics.
Since then, Weezer have rarely stood still.
From the darker and more emotional Pinkerton to the hugely successful Green Album, the band have continued to experiment while retaining the sound that has made them one of alternative rock's most recognisable names.
Weezer: The Gathering Tour
The new Weezer: The Gathering tour
will kick off in February 2027 and will take the band across Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, the UK and Ireland.
For Irish fans, the big date for the diary is Wednesday 12th May 2027, when Weezer will take over Dublin's 3Arena. With Taking Back Sunday joining the tour, the Dublin show promises a serious dose of alternative rock nostalgia alongside Weezer's new material.
The Irish date also comes after a huge 32-date North American arena tour this autumn, where Weezer will be joined by The Shins and Silversun Pickups.
Weezer And Taking Back Sunday At 3Arena
There is something particularly fitting about Taking Back Sunday joining Weezer for these dates. Both bands have built hugely loyal fanbases over the years, and both have played an important role in the wider alternative rock scene. While Weezer's sound has moved between power pop, alternative rock and geek rock throughout their career, Taking Back Sunday became one of the defining bands of the early-2000s emo and alternative scene.
Put the two together in Dublin and it looks like a pretty strong night for guitar music.

After more than 30 years, Weezer remain one of alternative rock's most enduring bands. The combination of their huge back catalogue, Rivers Cuomo's unmistakable songwriting and a new album that is already attracting plenty of praise makes the Weezer Dublin 2027 show an exciting prospect. May 12th 2027 looks like one for the diary.
