Cork alternative rockers The Love Buzz have built quite a reputation over the past few years for their high-energy live shows, chaotic performances and seriously infectious hooks. Now, they're back with another noisy slice of DIY alternative rock in the shape of their latest single, The Message.

Taking plenty of inspiration from ’70s power pop, ’90s alternative rock and the garage rock revival of the 2000s, The Love Buzz have carved out a sound that feels both familiar and distinctly their own.

According to the band, the main intro riff had actually been sitting unfinished for years before a spark of inspiration finally gave it a new direction. The track was then put together at the last minute during a late-night studio session.

The band describe the experience as a drunken haze, with the song coming together almost exactly as it sounds now.

That spontaneity definitely comes across.

Lyrically, The Message takes a suitably unpredictable route, with random ramblings inspired by Kieran's Edwardian rat-flat in the middle of Cork City. Rather than trying to force everything into a neat narrative, the song embraces its own ambiguity.

There's something appealing about that.

The track feels like a drunken late-night studio experiment that somehow turned into a proper song. It's messy, slightly unhinged and completely unconcerned with taking itself too seriously.
