Music Review | 16th Feb, 2025 Silver Winged They Fly Silver Winged They Fly

Donegal band Silver Winged They Fly, are quickly building a reputation for their musical exploration of deep emotional themes through alternative indie and dark synthwave. With their genre-bending soundscapes the band create music that weaves dark introspection with upbeat, genre-bending soundscapes, blending elements of shoegaze, indie rock, and synthwave.

The band released their debut single, Future Changes The Past in 2024, followed by Cold In The Soul, both receiving positive reviews. With a number of live dates set for 2025 the band has released their latest synthwave single, Starjump.

Lyrically the Starjump, imagines the peacefulness and tranquility of rebirth near the singers childhood home in Fanad, Co. Donegal. The lyrics describe returning to the soul of the countryside and imagine the singer watching from the mountain as the fires of old lives and identities are burned in a symbolic funeral. He is greeted in the otherworld by ancestors, friends and family.

The track was produced by Orri McBrearty (Villagers, Bell X1) and again featuring Sarah Cullen from the band on bass guitar and vocals alongside songwriter Ruairi Friel. Featuring Mark McGirr on drums.

Silver Winged They Fly is preparing for a 2025 live debut in the UK and Ireland, bringing their unique take on alternative indie and dark synthwave to the stage.
