Irish group Kingfishr complete phenomenal year with latest single

Kingfishr's breakthrough year has just seen the indie-folk trio complete an unforgettable UK and Ireland headline tour that received ecstatic receptions during nineteen consecutive sold-out shows. Now Kingfishr cap a remarkable 2024 - and look forward to an even bigger year ahead - as they share the new single Bet On Beauty.

The latest track embodies the qualities Kingfishr are known for with strident melodies, towering anthemic hooks and Irish soul played with an indie-rock intensity.

Vocalist / guitarist Eddie Keogh says;

Bet On Beauty' is about redemption. You're gonna mess up continuously. No one ever gets it right all the time. The main thing is that you aim up despite being a complete moron. I'm just thankful we're all morons.

Accompanying the single is the additional track, Killeagh, which takes the boys deeper into their Irish trad roots. It celebrates Killeagh GAA, the hurling club which Eoin 'Fitz' Fitzgibbon (bass) played for in his youth, and was debuted at their recent show in Cork.

Eoghan 'McGoo' McGrath (banjo) adds;

Fitz is from a small town in east Cork called Killeagh, after which the song is named. He played hurling for his club for close to 20 years before turning his hand to music due to injury. We wrote the song in support of his club. Specifically an east county final they just won (hon the lads). It's about the pride of belonging somewhere and references the local area heavily.

Prior to this year, Kingfishr had already enjoyed some landmark moments supporting and sharing the stage with the likes of Bruce Springsteen's, George Ezra, Tom Walker and Snow Patrol.

Their first headline tour in 2024 really upped the ante, and saw them record two sold-out shows at the 3Olympia Theatre for their first album release Live At Dublin which reached #5 on the Irish Album Chart, #1 on the Irish Independent Chart, and #7 on the UK's Folk Albums Chart.

It all positions Kingfishr for greater things to come in 2025, starting with the confirmation of two big outdoor summer headline shows in Dublin and Limerick. Tickets for both shows have just gone on sale and are available through the bands site - www.kingfishr.os.fan.
