If you’ve been around the Irish alt scene for a while, the name Cashell might already ring a bell. Ryan Cashell is a serious multi-instrumentalist who first made waves as the frontman and chief songwriter of Dublin outfit Brass Phantoms. Before stepping fully into his own lane, he was even writing tracks for Champions League adverts. Since then, his songs City of Wolves, Waiting Up, and Disciples have enjoyed hefty radio play, while Cashell clocked up plenty of road miles touring across Ireland, the UK, and New York.

Fast-forward to now, and Cashell is back with his latest release, These Things Take Time. Long-time fans might be feeling a bit of déjà vu, and they’re not wrong. The track was originally written 12 years ago, but it’s been fully reworked for 2026. The new version leans into ’80s new-wave vibes, filtered through a modern alt-rock lens, with rich layers of synths giving it that late-night, headphones-on energy.

These Things Take Time, is a song about watching others moving on with their lives, and coming to terms with the fact that we are all on our own paths in life. This new single, inspired by LCD Soundsystem and The xx, invites self discovery, reinvention, and with a new year, a new beginning for the listener. - Cashill

The single is backed by b-side Said and Done, which also happens to be Cashell’s debut solo release. Since dropping, it’s already picked up solid radio play across Ireland and landed spots on multiple playlists.

If this is Cashell setting the tone for what’s next, it’s definitely worth sticking around to see where his path leads.
