Drawing inspiration from all manner of music, from early rock and roll, to 90s grunge and ska with a steady undercurrent of R&B and soul, Piper Connolly blends elements of indie songwriting, alternative and pop into a storied sonic landscape.
The latest single from the artist Welcome Back Girl shows a series side to the songwriter as she covers the topic of bouncing back from a toxic relationship.
Musically the track is full of emotion begining with a slow tempo as Pipers vocals build with intensity diving into rock mode with distorted guitars and heavy drums.
Speaking about Welcome Back Girl
the artist says;
I wrote the song after seeing a friend rediscover herself after a very difficult time. She had completely lost herself as a result of a really bad relationship which included intimate partner violence.
This beautiful, strong, effervescent personality had become unrecognizable as the person we all love so much. She left them which, in and of itself, was very hard for her to do and, with time, came healing and that familiar lovely woman came back to us and back to herself. She is now the 'welcome back girl' in my song.
Beyond her music, Piper is a vocal advocate for authenticity and self-expression, using her platform to champion individuality and empowerment. As she explores the boundaries of alt-pop, she continues to inspire others to embrace their true selves through her music and activism, serving as a beacon of creativity and authenticity in a world hungry for genuine voices and connection.
The single Welcome Back Girl is available through all streaming platforms.
