Singer-songwriter Peter Alexander Jobson releases new single ahead of upcoming album

Northumberland songwriter, poet and raconteur Peter Alexander Jobson has released his latest single taken from his soon to be released debut solo album Burn The Ration Books Of Love set for release on 15th Nov, 2024.

The latest single from the artist, Just, Cause Im Dead, features Peters raw and honest lyrics spread across a piano backing which is joined by angelic sounding backing harmonies.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the track Peter says;

This song is the imaginings of what comes after. I have lived so long in delusion that convincing myself I’ll still be around influencing things after my death comes very easy to me. I find this a hilarious, ridiculous and useful trait in my personality. I like the idea that none of us are really in control of what is coming and the tragic comedy that we may trip up into death and see it as an accidental inconvenience...I was only halfway through, I’d only got started in truth, there is so much more left to do

The notion that to live is to constantly deny death to a greater or lesser degree is a powerful one. From various religions selling you the promise of the afterlife to reaching for that next cigarette; death's mastery does seem to hover about us all.

Jobson blends an extraordinary collection of genres from country-flavoured psychedelia to cocktail jazz. You can here elements of artist such as Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits with a touch of blues and country legends like Robert Johnson and Hank Williams.

Jobson has built a successful career composing and recording soundtracks, while also being a touring musician supporting acts such as Elbow and for fellow North East artist Nadine Shah. Between these hectic periods of live commitments, Jobson also found time to commence work on the 11 songs that make up his soon to be released debut solo record Burn The Ration Books Of Love set for 15th Nov, 2024.

Heavily autobiographical in inspiration, the songs that make up Burn The Ration Books Of Love are deeply rooted in Jobson’s lived experience, and in his geographical roots in Northumberland, with its wild, windswept coastline, rugged hills and moors, and extensive agricultural farmland where his family have worked the land for generations.

The latest single Just, Cause Im Dead is produced by Ben Christophers and featurs Elbow’s Guy Garvey on backing vocals.
