Dublin retro-indie artist Papa Boyle takes inspiration from the retro sounds of the '50s and 60's Rock n Roll era with a tinge of modern Indie crafting ambient music filled with rousing melodies and pondering punchlines.
With aspirations of 2024 being a breakout year with releases and gigs across Ireland, Papa Boyle has already seen himself land some great success with his debut release Between Two Fools
and the follow up single Last Chance Saloon
.
Papa Boyles sound brings something fresh and unique to the music scene, which can be heard in his latest release, Tranquillo.
Tranquillo
came together quite quickly after Papa Boyle wrote down Tranquillo as a word he wanted to try and use in an upcoming song or as a theme, when he picked up the guitar again it was the next song he wrote.
Speaking about the track Papa Boyle says;
It was really cool to further explore some of the country tone's and influences I have of late in parts of this track. I enjoyed writing the lead guitar in particular; it feels to me like a mixture of Chris Stapleton or Thin Lizzy at times.
The rhythm section as a whole locked in nicely to provide a 50's esk shuffle to the record, we had good fun adding the castanets and guiro which were both lovely additions in the end.
Tranquillo displays more of range in my vocal, it was an enjoyable process to delve further into this, vocally we wanted to deliver a performance that emulated the likes of Roy Orbison but with a more contemporary crooner feel.
I think Tranquillo showcases the further development in sound and songwriting, it feels like this is just the start of further exploration of the Retro Indie sound I am trying to achieve, plenty more exciting things in the pipeline.
The single Tranquillo is available through all streaming platforms.
