Televangelisttaken from upcoming fourth album
The latest single, Televangelist
, is full-throttle rock mode with trashing guitars and a killer beat with one foot in new-wave while the other is in punk-rock.
The track is the follow up to 2023's Mere Slaughter
, which achieved recognition by the likes of RTE, Louder Than War Radio, Noizze and Hardbeat Magazine.
Beginning in 2014, the band was originally conceived as a solo project by vocalist and lyricist James, releasing his debut EP in 2014. Mutes would evolve into a full-band in 2017 with the addition of Tom Hewson on bass and Craig Bainton on drums, releasing the debut album No Desire
.
The album, Pareidolia
would follow in 2019, while 2021 would see the release of the successful, Dreams of Being Cornered
, their third and most fully-realised record yet.
The latest single Televangelist
is a taste of what to expect from their fourth album, Buried Where You Stand
due for release May 17th 2024.
Speaking about the track the band say;
Theological projections of an irresolute agnostic; torn between clinging to the assuaging hand of statism and laying waste to internalised idolatry. Catholic guilt is one hell of a trip.
The single, Televangelist is available through all streaming platforms, with the album, Buried Where You Stand
, to follow May 17th 2024.
