Creating ethereal alt-rock shoegaze with alt-metal influences, Haunted Images, is the singular vision of Louth based producer and songwriter David O'Farrell-McGeary. Following the successful release of singles If You Want
, Grey Days
, Sometimes
and Stay Awake
, David has released his self titled album, Haunted Images.
Haunted Images
is Davids largest and most realised body of work to date. Lyrically David comes from a place of deep introspection and thematically addresses forgiveness in many different forms, seeking to bring light to the impending darkness.
The album has layers of sound that would not look out of place on an ambient meditation piece of music. It just happens to have a combination of heavy fuzz tones and modulated guitars, saturated in chorus, all kept in time with heavy rock drums.
Haunted Images
, takes influence from a number of styles such as the drum driven, Take Me Instead
, with its New-Wave feel, to the heavy rock tones of I Forgive You
and I Want You
.
Grey Days
is one of the heaviest tracks on the album with a prominent snare with flamboyant runs along the fretboard. Stay Awake
is not far behind tempo wise while, Sometimes
, has a calm dreamy feel.
One of the earliest songs written for the album is, heavenlevel7
, a shoegaze track with an eerie sounding intro played with modulated guitar over programmed beats leading to repetitive fuzz-toned guitar lines and crunching guitar.
Its not all about heavy riffs. Haunted Images
, also contains the tracks, Arklow Emo
, I don't know where it begins or Where It Ends Anymore
, A Grey Sky Over A City Of Ghosts
, which show Davids ability to create ambient instrumentals blending plucked strings over a sonic-landscape.
The album draws from a rich sonic tapestry, David's skill as songwriter and producer are evident from beginning to end, being soley responsible form the performance, recording and mixing of the album.
When it came time to add drums to the track he turned to Cian McCluskey and made the trip to Abbey Lane Studios Drogheda to capture the huge drum sound that drives the album.
The album, Haunted Images, is available through all streaming platforms.
