Dublin rockers Chase Nova Band release latest single

Based in Dublin, Ireland, Chase Nova Band are a genre-melding band that incorporate a wide range of influneces. Rock-driven arrangements with a jazz sensibility engage the listener, while Hip-Hop and R N' B-inspired vocal theatricality deliver poetic and politically timely lyrics.

The band has built a reputation for their improvisational and spontaneous performances which was seen at major festivals across Ireland, such as Electric Picnic, Body & Soul and Knockanstockan, with headline slots at The Secret Village Festival and Livestock.

The band has seen chart success with previous single releases, Echo, reaching No.3 in the iTunes Ireland singles charts while their debut album, The Sobering Fact reached No.2 on the iTunes Ireland album charts.

The latest single from the band is Beg For It Back, taking aim at the ever worsening socio-economic situation in Dublin.

Beg For It Back is a song about feeling trapped and ashamed...It's heavily influenced by my own experience of applying for welfare; all the hoops they ask you to jump through and the humiliation others put upon you for being unable to support yourself. The video plays with this concept, exaggerating the pain and embarrassment I felt. I actually broke two ribs filming it so hopefully the pain and discomfort comes through and adds visually to the song.

Industry developments have made it more difficult than ever to forge a career in music without money to support yourself in formative years. We used to have so many spaces for artists to create and develop, but these are being sold off to hotel chains and international coffee retailers every day. The government isn't investing as much in the arts as they have or could, nor do they seem interested in protecting what little cultural spaces we do have left. I think the chorus, 'They took it all from you, and now they're making you Beg For It Back' was inspired by that. - Chase
