Following on the heels of their debut single, Fortified
released at the end of 2024, Irish rockers, Bowery Boy, continue their positive momentum with the latest single, Wide Awake.
Hailing from Navan, Meath, Bowery Boy was formed in 2021 by songwriter Paul Clarke, who after spending years co-writing with local artists decided to form a band with Barry Fitzgerald (drums), Lenny Lane (Bass), and Robbie Fitzgerald (guitar). Blending influences from bands such as The Beatles, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, and Queens of the Stoneage, The Bowery Boy's set list ranges from extended rock jams to sharp, three-minute indie anthems.
With crunching guitars, heavy pounding drums, Wide Awake
, is a heavy hitting emotionally charged track. Filled with grunge-influenced tones, the track is inspired as a result of a dark
period in time for front-man, Paul Clarke.
I often feel blessed to use the gift of songwriting to express emotions I would never normally share with the world. For me, Wide Awake is a perfect example of catharsis through creativity. There's no denying that I was in a dark place while writing it, and there were specific reasons for that. Thankfully, through psychedelic therapy, music and the unwavering support of close friends and family, I was able to navigate that chapter of my life, and come out stronger on the other side.- Paul Clarke
The single, Wide Awake, is available through all streaming platforms.
