The Fireflys Front-man Barry Walsh returns with solo debut single

Music Review | 24th May, 2024 Barry Walsh Barry Walsh

Lead singer and songwriter with 80/90's power-pop group, The Fireflys, Barry Walsh returns with a breezy scorcher of a song.

Along with releasing a number of critically acclaimed singles, The Fireflys were known for their exuberant and barnstorming live sets, allowing them to burn brightly, albeit briefly, in pop's rich firmament before plummeting back to earth.

In the intervening years, Barry continued to finely craft lyrically astute songs tumbling with melody, ringing guitars and the odd keyboard doodle.

The first offering from Barry is Rescue Me, a stunning track drenched in psychedelic tones with jangling guitar, Stones inspired riffs and blocks of cascading harmonies.

Rescue Me is Barry's first single release with a debut album in the pipeline. All the tracks were recorded and mixed in his son Oisin’s studio in Trim, also the home studio of Oisin and his brother Cian’s outfit Spearside.
